The St. Louis Blues (41-28-7) extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 2-1 victory against the Detroit Red Wings (34-33-7) at Enterprise Center on Tuesday night. The Blues move into the first Western Conference wild card spot, one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild, who have a game in hand.

Game Recap

For most of the game, the Blues controlled the momentum, outshooting the Red Wings 23-12 in the first two periods. However, they lost composure in the first 10 minutes of the third period, repeatedly turning over the puck and failing to generate offensive zone pressure, which allowed the Red Wings to apply their own.

The deadlock was broken at 5:13 of the third period when JT Compher scored after Jonatan Berggren sent a pass across the crease, allowing Compher to tap the puck into a wide-open net with Binnington out of position.

In a bid to tie the game, the Blues pulled Jordan Binnington with 16:37 left in the third period to create a 6-on-5 advantage. Blues head coach Jim Montgomery explained the early decision: “We weren’t creating enough chances, didn’t have enough zone time, and they were icing pucks because they were tired.”

With just 29 seconds left in regulation, Jordan Kyrou tied the game. He managed to deflect a pass from Cam Fowler and tucked the puck between goaltender Cam Talbot’s legs to even the score at 1-1.

In overtime, the Blues had more of the possession. Cam Fowler secured the game winner with 1:34 remaining, finishing off a 2-on-1 rush with Robert Thomas. Fowler collected the pass from Thomas and lifted a backhand shot over Talbot to give St. Louis the win.

Jordan Binnington finished the game with 20 saves, allowing one goal and posting a .952 save percentage.

Notable Performers

Robert Thomas extended his point streak to six games with his assist to Fowler, recording two goals and 11 assists during the stretch.

With his assist on the game-tying goal, Dylan Holloway now has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in his last 11 games.

Jimmy Snuggerud made his NHL debut for the Blues after signing a three-year entry-level contract with the team on Friday. He impressed with two shots on goal and solid forechecking, which contributed to Kyrou’s tying goal.

Betting Recap

The cash cow kept rolling as the Blues moneyline (-180) cashed, while the total score comfortably stayed UNDER 5.5 (+105). The second leg of Eric Sontag's SGP was a breeze as Kyrou registered six shots on net, but the Blues on the moneyline came down to the wire—yet, as expected, they pulled it off.
