Blazing Blues
The Blues are now 11-1-1 in their last 13 games, outscoring opponents 39-13 during their nine-game win streak. They also snapped Colorado’s 11-game home winning streak, handing the Avalanche their first loss at Ball Arena since Jan. 22 against the Winnipeg Jets.
With the victory, St. Louis moves into a tie with the Minnesota Wild for the first Western Conference wild-card spot. Before the 4 Nations Face Off break, the Blues trailed Minnesota by 15 points, sitting at 55 while the Wild had 70. However, since then, St. Louis has been on a tear, racking up 32 points (15-2-2), nearly doubling Minnesota’s 17 (8-9-1).
"It's the end of 10 (games) in 17 (days). We went 9-1; we lost the first one. It's very impressive what we're doing right now,” Blues head coach Jim Montgomery said. "There's something special going on right now, and it's great to be a part of it."
