St. Louis CITY SC Extends Shutout Streak with 1-0 Victory Over Seattle (St Louis CITY SC)

St. Louis CITY SC (2-2-0) secured their fourth consecutive shutout and second straight win with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders (1-1-2) on Saturday night at Energizer Park. This was the first win for St. Louis at the park since it's been renamed this year.

Scoring Recap:

Eduard Löwen scored the match’s lone goal in the 15th minute, converting on a free kick. It was Löwen’s first goal of the season and his 30th goal contribution (12 goals, 18 assists) in 56 regular season games for St. Louis.

Defense Wins Games:

CITY’s defense, led by Henry Kessler, held firm throughout the match, maintaining the 1-0 lead and helping backup goalkeeper Ben Lundt earn his first MLS clean sheet and win with Roman Bürki out injured. Kessler recorded his 100th career MLS start, while Alfredo Morales made his 100th MLS appearance after coming on as a substitute. 

Tomáš Ostrák and Joakim Nilsson made their first appearances of the 2025 season.

Game Stats:

Although St. Louis recorded just two more shots than Seattle (14-12), CITY outshot the Sounders 5-1 on target. Seattle however, dominated possession with 65% of the ball.

This victory marks St. Louis’ fourth consecutive clean sheet to start the 2025 season, making them the third MLS team to achieve this feat, joining the 2012 Vancouver Whitecaps and 2007 New York Red Bulls. It is also the first time in CITY SC history the team has gone four straight games without conceding a goal. No MLS team has recorded five consecutive shutouts to begin a season, which CITY has the chance to do.

CITY ML (+125) hit while the total score went UNDER the 2.5 line (-130).

What's Next:

St. Louis' next test will be against the Philadelphia Union (3-0-1) on Saturday at Subaru Park, coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. CST. CITY looks to become the first team to start a MLS campaign with five clean sheets.
