All seemed well heading into Saturday's tilt at Energizer Park against Seattle Sounders until the Starting XI was released alongside an unexpected announcement: St. Louis CITY SC captain Roman Bürki has suffered a fractured hand and will miss the match, with further evaluation of the injury to come this week.
Goalkeeper Ben Lundt will step between the pipes to defend St. Louis CITY SC's club-record clean sheet against Seattle Sounders. He has featured 4 times for CITY SC, conceding 11 goals and posting a 57.5 save percentage. On top of that, more unexpected changes made their way into the Starting XI, with Designated Player João Klauss also on the bench and only one striker featured in the eleven starters for the boys in CITY Red following 314 day.
The injury came in Friday's training session. Olof Mellberg said post-match that the Swiss goalkeeper finished training Friday without much concern, only to find out Saturday morning that a small fracture had occurred. Bürki will visit with a hand specialist to diagnose the severity and recovery time as soon as possible.

On Bürki injury, freak accident in training, continued training and didn’t think it was bad, then found out it’s a small fracture. pic.twitter.com/4hLL3gCUJA
Mellberg says he is comfortable with Lundt going forward. “He didn’t have to make many saves but he did well and is a good goalkeeper, good shot stopper.”

Closes with saying how they didn’t find out about Bürki’s injury until today, proud of the team’s performance.
