Blues Return Home Needing A Win
The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets continue their Western Conference quarterfinal series at Enterprise Center Thursday night with the Blues trailing two games to none.
The Blues led going into the third period in Game 1 before letting the lead slip away, and they were tied going into the third in Game 2 before losing by a single goal. The results suggest the Blues are right there with Winnipeg, but the Jets are wearing them down late with their suffocating defense that was #1 in the NHL this season in fewest goals allowed.
Blues Dominant On Home Ice
The Blues have a franchise-record 12-game winning streak on home ice, but the last team to beat them at Enterprise Center was these Jets back on February 22nd. The Blues have lost both home meetings with Winnipeg this season.
The Blues need to create more shot attempts against this stifling Winnipeg defense. Counting the regular season, the Blues have lost 4 games in a row to the Jets and have averaged under 20 shots per game in those matchups.
Scheifele Continues Hot Run
The Blues are getting killed by the Mark Scheifele line. The Jets center has accounted for 2 goals and 3 assists in the first two games. That continues Scheifele’s hot run where he has recorded at least one point in 13 of his last 15 games.
Jets winger Kyle Connor has scored the game-winning goal in both games of the series, with Scheifele recording an assist on each of those goals.
My Pick
I’m not going to lie… I don’t have a good feeling about the Blues. The Jets were the Presidents’ Trophy winners for a reason. Even though these games have been close, Winnipeg is just a better team.
That said, if Jordan Kyrou scores on his third period breakaway in Game 1, the Blues likely win that game and are headed back to St. Louis tied 1-1 at worst. So variance could shine on the Blues in Game 3 in what has been a close series so far.
So instead of betting a side or total for Game 3, I’m going right back to the well with the same bet that cashed less than 5 minutes into the second period in Game 2.
It’s a Same Game Parlay on DraftKings with Kyrou to register at least two shots on goal and Scheifele to record at least one point.
Kyrou has had at least two shots on goal in 20 of his last 22 games and in 66 of his 84 games overall this season - that’s a 78.5% success rate.
And if you bet on Scheifele to register a point in every game this season, your record would be 60-24 - that’s a 71.4% hit rate.
Put these together for a -120 play on DraftKings, and hopefully we get another early cash.
Pick: Same Game Parlay priced at -120 on DraftKings - Jordan Kyrou to record 2+ shots on goal AND Mark Scheifele to record 1+ points (bet to -130)
