The St. Louis Blues have made a roster move ahead of their upcoming games, bringing back a familiar face from their AHL affiliate. President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced that the team has recalled forward Mackenzie MacEachern from the Springfield Thunderbirds.MacEachern, 30, has been a steady presence for the Thunderbirds this season, appearing in 17 games and tallying 15 points (six goals, nine assists) along with 36 penalty minutes. The veteran winger, originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, has played in 123 NHL regular-season games, all with the Blues, recording 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) and 55 penalty minutes.

Since returning from injury, MacEachern has been a consistent performer in Springfield’s top six, playing a reliable two-way game and contributing offensively. His nearly point-per-game production in the AHL has made him an asset for the Thunderbirds, especially as they continue to push for playoff positioning. While he has found success at the AHL level, his role with the Blues will likely be more limited, primarily serving as a depth forward who can step in when needed.

The Blues lost in overtime in his first game back 3-2 to the Oilers.

MacEachern’s recall comes as the Blues navigate roster adjustments, whether due to injuries, lineup changes, or performance-related decisions. His experience within the organization makes him a seamless fit should head coach Jim Montgomery need to make adjustments to the bottom-six forward group. While he is unlikely to see time in a top or even middle-six NHL role, MacEachern’s work ethic and familiarity with the teams system make him a dependable option if injuries or inconsistent play create an opportunity.

Throughout his career, MacEachern has been known for his responsible defensive play, physicality, and ability to chip in offensively when given the chance. His versatility allows him to play both wings, and his experience in both the NHL and AHL gives the Blues some additional flexibility as they manage their forward group. He is capable of playing a checking-line role, bringing energy on the forecheck, and providing a steady presence on the ice.

For the Thunderbirds, losing MacEachern is a significant loss, as he has been a key contributor since returning to the lineup. However, his recall to St. Louis is also a testament to his strong play and the value he brings to the organization. If he gets into the lineup, it will mark another opportunity for him to prove he can contribute at the NHL level, even if only in a depth capacity.

The Blues will continue to evaluate their roster situation in the coming days, and MacEachern’s role will largely depend on team needs. Whether he sees game action or serves as an extra forward, his recall provides the team with additional depth as they move forward in the season.
