Blues Dominate Jets 5-1 to Even First-Round Series

The St. Louis Blues delivered a dominant performance in Game 4 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, beating the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Enterprise Center. With the victory, St. Louis evened the series at two games apiece, shifting momentum back in their favor as the teams prepare for a pivotal Game 5 in Winnipeg.

Scoring Recap

First Period

13:58 – Kyle Connor opened the scoring for Winnipeg, finishing a backhanded rebound past Jordan Binnington after sustained pressure in the Blues' zone.

19:37 – With just 23 seconds left in the period, Jake Neighbours redirected Colton Parayko’s one-timer from the point, tying the game at 1-1 and recording his first career Stanley Cup Playoff goal.

Second Period

10:46 – Tyler Tucker gave the Blues a 2-1 lead, sniping a one-timer from the right point off a pass from Nick Leddy that beat Connor Hellebuyck high on the blocker side.

17:23 – Blues captain Brayden Schenn made it 3-1, roofing a shot from the top of the crease after Parayko drove the puck toward the net.

18:54 – Just over a minute later, Justin Faulk extended the lead to 4-1 with a one-timer from the point that deflected off Jets defenseman Neal Pionk and slipped past Hellebuyck.

Third Period

2:01 – Robert Thomas added the fifth goal, weaving a backhander past Hellebuyck after the Jets defense opened a red carpet to the net.

Following Thomas' goal, Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was pulled for the second straight game, replaced by backup Eric Comrie. Blues fans chanted for Hellebuyck to return as Comrie took over.

Meanwhile, Jordan Binnington was playoff sharp in net, stopping 30 of 31 shots for a .968 save percentage.

Stats

Justin Faulk’s goal marked the fourth scored by a Blues defenseman in the past two games.

St. Louis has now won 14 consecutive home games dating back to February 23, with Binnington personally winning 13 straight home starts since February 8.

The Blues have scored at least 12 goals across their first two home playoff games for just the second time in franchise history (14 goals in 1982).

Notes

Tyler Tucker exited late in the third period with a lower-body injury after falling awkwardly while going for a check on Winnipeg’s Brandon Tanev.

Postgame, head coach Jim Montgomery spoke about Tucker saying, "I don’t have an update. We’ll have more [Monday]. His goal was huge for us getting a lead and being able to play with the lead. I thought he was really aggressive tonight, I thought that was his best game of the three games and I thought he was physical."

The Blues' ML (+114) cashed, and the total just crept over the 5.5-goal line (+120). Eric Sontag’s lean nearly held-on, but Robert Thomas' early third-period goal pushed the over.
