CITY Hosts Columbus On Sunday Night Soccer
St. Louis CITY SC returns home hoping to end their offensive drought when they host the Columbus Crew on Sunday night.
CITY has dropped each of their last three games via shutout, including a 2-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City last weekend.
CITY Needs Breakthrough
It has been a bizarre season for CITY thus far, as there have been just eight total goals scored across their seven games with four goals scored and four goals allowed.
CITY has found the net in only two of their seven matches this season, and after starting the campaign with four straight clean sheets, they have conceded in each of their last three games.
Columbus Undefeated
Columbus comes to St. Louis atop the Eastern Conference with 15 points and an unbeaten record of four wins and three draws in their seven MLS games.
The Crew have also been a very good road team, as they’ve won 11 of their last 16 regular season away matches.
My Pick
My co-hosts Shawn Surwillo and Tito Ulrich and I spoke about this game at length on our Domesticated Gamblers show on Friday on the Sports Hub STL YouTube channel. CITY was a slight favorite at the time, which I could not understand why that was the case. Sitting here writing this article about 12 hours later, the line has flipped as the betting market seems to be wising up to the fact that Columbus is a really good team and CITY just can’t score.
There is no way I can bet on CITY until they show me they can score goals - it’s pretty much as simple as that.
So my bet for this game is the exact same one I gave out last week that got me to the window. I’m taking CITY’s opponent to get a result (either win or draw) and for the game to go under 3.5 goals.
The first part is really simple - Columbus hasn’t lost a game yet in MLS play. So why shouldn’t I expect them to get a win or draw against CITY?
And for the second leg, CITY and Columbus have played a total of 16 games across all competitions this season, and under 3.5 goals has cashed in 15 of those 16 games.
This bet was priced at +110 on our Domesticated Gamblers show on Friday, but it has now been bet up to -120. If you’re with me on my logic, I’d get on this one sooner than later.
Pick: Same Game Parlay priced at -120 on DraftKings - Columbus Crew double chance (win or tie) + under 3.5 total goals (bet up to -130)
