St. Louis Blues fans have reason to be excited as the team announced Saturday that top prospect Dalibor Dvorsky has been recalled from the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League (AHL). The move comes as veteran forward Pavel Buchnevich is listed as day-to-day with an illness, potentially opening the door for Dvorsky to make his NHL debut as early as tomorrow night when the Blues face off against the Nashville Predators at Enterprise Center. The Sunday clash marks the second of a back-to-back set for St. Louis, and Dvorsky’s call-up could provide a much-needed spark.

The 19-year-old Slovakian sensation, selected 10th overall by the Blues in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has been turning heads in his first professional season in North America. With the Springfield Thunderbirds, Dvorsky has posted an impressive 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points in 57 games. His 20 goals tie him for third among AHL rookies, while his 43 points rank fifth. The 6’1, 206-pound forward’s blend of size, skill, and scoring touch earned him a spot at the 2025 AHL All-Star Game in February, showcasing his potential as a future cornerstone for the Blues.
Before joining the Thunderbirds, Dvorsky dominated the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sudbury Wolves during the 2023-24 season. In just 52 regular-season games, he racked up 45 goals and 43 assists for a staggering 88 points, earning 2024 OHL First All-Star Team honors. His performance with Sudbury highlighted his elite offensive instincts and playmaking ability, traits that Blues fans hope to see translate to the NHL level.
Internationally, Dvorsky captained Slovakia at the 2025 U-20 World Junior Championships, leading the team with nine points (five goals, four assists) in five games.
Meanwhile, Buchnevich’s absence leaves a void in the Blues’ lineup. The 29-year-old Russian forward has contributed 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 68 games this season, making him a key piece of the team’s attack. While his day to day status is not expected to sideline him long-term, Dvorsky’s recall offers an intriguing opportunity.
With the Nashville Predators coming to town, all eyes will be on Dvorsky. Could tomorrow mark the beginning of his NHL journey? Blues fans won’t want to miss this one.
