Masyn Winn is off to a slow start during Spring Training, batting just .098 with 4 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 stolen base. While he hasn’t found success at the plate lately, nobody has questioned Winn’s rocket arm:

Winn was the Cardinals’ second-round pick in the 2020 draft and almost immediately became a prospect to watch. It took Winn just two seasons to go from Low-A Southeast to the Majors when, on Aug. 18, 2023, Winn was promoted to the Cards’ 40-man roster and became the youngest Cardinals shortstop to make his MLB debut since Garry Templeton.

Last season, Winn played 150 games for the Redbirds and hit .267 with 57 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Between his production that was good for top-20 in the National League in many stats, plus his defensive capabilities, he quickly became a fan favorite and a player Cards fans hope to see in red and white for decades:
St. Louis sports fans and media personalities alike have high hopes for Winn this season. MLB.com’s John Denton believes Winn and the Cards’ likely second hitter Lars Nootbaar could be a formidable duo — if the latter can finally figure it out and stay in the majors.

Masyn Winn was born in Katy, TX, and attended Kingwood High School. He made USA Baseball’s under-15 national team and won the MVP of the COPABE Pan American AA Championships, thanks to a .522 batting average.
