Blues Play Kings… Again
The St. Louis Blues meet the Los Angeles Kings for the third time in eight days when they face off tonight in California.
The Blues have won both meetings with LA in this stretch and have secured victories in six of their last seven games overall. The hot streak has lifted the Blues’ odds to make the playoffs to +370 on DraftKings.
Blues In A Tough Spot
The Blues’ only defeat in their last seven games was a 6-3 loss in Dallas last Sunday when they were playing their third game in four nights.
Unfortunately the Blues find themselves in the same spot tonight, and I’d expect to see backup Joel Hofer in between the pipes this evening with Jordan Binnington having played last night in Anaheim.
Kings On Long Skid
The Kings come into this one having lost five in a row and they haven’t scored more than two goals in any of those games. They continue to be held back by a power play that is ranked 29th in the NHL with a success rate of just 15.0%.
The Kings however have dominated on home ice this year with a record of 19-3-4 at Crypto.com Arena.
My Lean
This is a tough one to call.
This is an absolutely horrific spot for the Blues playing their third game in four nights, and we saw how that worked out for them in Dallas last Sunday. But it’s hard to fade them when they’re hot right now and the Kings are ice cold.
I also like the idea of the over with Hofer likely starting, as the over has cashed in all three of his starts since the 4 Nations Face-Off. But these are two profitable teams to the under this season, and the under has hit in both meetings this past week between them.
I won’t be betting this one, but I’ve landed on the Kings in regulation as my lean. The Blues’ defense got loose late last night in Anaheim, and they had to hold on for dear life to get the win. The Kings are a good team and excellent at home, and they are certainly due to snap their losing streak sooner than later.
Lean: Kings in regulation at -115 on DraftKings
