Blues, Ducks Meet On Deadline Day
The St. Louis Blues continue their California road trip on Friday night when they take on the Anaheim Ducks.
The Blues won at Los Angeles 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday and will play the Ducks on Friday before meeting the Kings one more time on Saturday.
As the trade deadline approaches at 2pm CST on Friday, the Blues have seen their odds to make the playoffs rise to +425 on DraftKings after being +1300 a couple weeks ago.
Blues Making Playoff Push
The Blues are playing their best hockey of the season, having won five of their last six games.
Jordan Binnington and company have excelled at keeping the puck out of the net in this stretch, as the Blues have allowed two or fewer goals in all five of those wins - and they have another good matchup on Friday against a subpar offensive team.
Ducks Games Are An Under Festival
Anaheim is one of the NHL’s worst offensive teams, ranking 30th in the league in goals per game. The Ducks also have the second-worst power play in the NHL, as they convert just 12.3% of their opportunities with the man advantage.
Those weak offensive numbers have led to the under cashing at a very high rate in Anaheim games. The under hits at a 63% clip in games involving the Ducks, which is the second highest mark in the NHL.
My Lean
The Blues have also been a profitable under team this season, with the under cashing in 56% of their games.
I definitely lean under 5.5 in this one, but it falls short of making my card on Friday in large part because of the loss of Colton Parayko. I want to see how the Blues look defensively without him before investing any money in a total.
For the same reason, I don’t want to take the Blues on the moneyline - in particular with a price that appears a bit inflated to me.
